From Grade 8 to Grade 12, our cricket program caters for boys and girls of all backgrounds. Each age group has a number of teams. Every team has a skilled, dedicated coach, with the senior teams benefiting from additional coaching.
Welkom-Gimnasium competes against the best cricketing schools in the Lejweleputswa region . Our league consists of 7 teams contributing towards Home and Away fixtures.
Our philosophy is that we lay the foundation for our players in the different age groups and then move to a more in-depth and personalised program as the players get older. We promote involvement and seek to establish opportunities for all boys and girls. We have one cricket field and six turf nets, that can be used in the day or at night thanks to artificial lighting.
Our First team won the 2022 season and many of our players represented the Free State at different levels. In 2023 we had 4 boys who represented Welkom-Gimnasium on their tour to India as part of the SA Rural Cricket Team.
